Crews from across West Yorkshire attended a Moorland Fire in Marsden. The fire was approx 800m x 1000m and specialist Wildfire crews were called to deal with the incident. @@connorwilliams4859 In 21 years of being at a busy retained Dorset station with dozens of square miles of gorse, heathlands and plantation, we never called it a wild fire. To americanised.
It’s a moorland fire. The area in question is open peat moorland that is in the south Pennines this particular spot is just below the Pennine Way. Happens every year despite a ban on open fires, bbqs etc. visitors come into the area and accidentally cause these fires. Except for the time a guy set off a firework to impress his girlfriend… he got sent to jail. Mountain Rescue teams are often deployed to assist F&RS too.

It says in the Officer In Charge (Front Passenger Seat) Side of the pumps, Watch Managers usually you can tell by the helmet when they get their helmets out the back (E.G 50 Rawdon, 20 Leeds etc)

It’s amazing - and also awesome - to think that the new TL is very nearly 3 times the height of this HP on full stretch.
I’m Australian, but I remember old kids shows like “Here Comes A Fire Engine” that used to feature these HP’s, so it hits hard for me too. They defined the image of the LFB for years. Glad to see that one of them’s living a second life with Limerick City FB in Ireland.
